San Francisco event to show Iran’s 'Butterfly Stroke'

The 14th San Francisco Iranian Film Festival in the US is to screen 'Butterfly Stroke'.

The 14th edition of the San Francisco Iranian Film Festival (IFF) in the US has been set to screen the movie 'Butterfly Stroke'.

Directed by Mohammad Kart, the movie narrates the story of some people from poverty-stricken neighborhoods in Tehran.

The people have to pretend to be strong if they want to survive the brutality of their environment.

Some top-rating Iranian actors such as Mohammad-Javad Ezzati, Tannaz Tabatabaee, Mahlaqa Baqeri, Pantea Bahram, Ali Shademan, and Amir Aqaee have starred in the flick.

'Butterfly Stroke' has gone on screen at some global events, including the Shanghai International Film Festival in China.

Launched in 2008, the IFF is an annual event showcasing independent features and short films made by or about Iranians from around the world.

It is the first independent Iranian film festival outside Iran, with no affiliation to any political or religious organizations.

The IFF is also a platform for Iranian filmmakers living around the globe to express their vision and talent through the artistic medium of film.

It was established to support the Iranian film and culture in the Iranian-American community of the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.

The 2021 edition of the event will be held on September 18-19.
